I delivered this talk multiple times in 2023, including this version in April. It combines two of my passions: OKR coaching and Leadership Coaching. Here’s the abstract for the talk:
OKRs, which stand for Objectives and Key Results, are a powerful goal setting framework used to set ambitious goals with measurable results. They help galvanize organizations and teams to focus on achieving what matters most. The qualities required to be successful with OKRs are the same qualities required of effective leaders. As you adopt OKRs, limitations in your leadership development, relationships, and organizational structure will be exposed. This creates an amazing opportunity for leaders to tackle challenging issues that allow them to achieve their objectives while growing personally and professionally.
Over the last 10 years supporting organizational transformations, I’ve found that growth opportunities for leaders are often overlooked. Organizations don’t change unless people do, and this is why so many transformations fail to realize the benefits they seek. This is just as true with organizations that adopt OKRs. As a professional coach (ICF-PCC), my goal is to support the growth of people and organizations to maximize their potential.
We will cover 3 opportunities for leaders that are present in OKR adoptions. 1. Shift from tactics to strategy in OKR setting 2. Increase engagement in your organization 3. Gain alignment with peers and direct reports
We’ll identify why each opportunity is important, what’s challenging about it, and how to take advantage of it to maximize your success with OKRs and leadership potential. The opportunities will be brought to life with real stories about people who have faced them and the choices they made.
